Welcome to Asheboro High School AVID program
The purpose of the AHS AVID is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
The AHS AVID program helps students reach their full potential. In the AVID elective classes, students are taught different strategies to make them successful in their classes. Once these strategies are mastered, they are then encouraged to take classes with more rigor. By taking these college ready classes, the students are more prepared to advance in their academic careers.
The AHS AVID students are encouraged to explore post secondary education avenues. The AVID program takes regular field trips to different colleges in the area to show them a variety of education programs available. In addition, we have guest speakers to inspire us and recount their experiences with us. We attend conferences and college fairs that inspire the students as well.
One of the most important aspects of AVID is keeping the parents informed of their child’s progress in the AVID program. We have parents nights spread out during the year that allows the students to present to the parents the variety of things that we have studied in AVID.
