Course Descriptions:
Spanish I
This course is designed to create and foster an interest in foreign language study. Students in this course will learn basic vocabulary and grammar principles of the language. Class activities will focus on speaking, hearing, reading, writing, and thinking in Spanish. Students will also study the culture of the various Spanish-speaking countries.
Spanish II
Students will continue to develop their vocabulary and grammar skills in this level. Students will explore much more in-depth grammar concepts such as the two past tenses, reflexive verbs, and indirect object pronouns. A focus on communication, reading, and writing will continue to be emphasized, with the expectation that students become more independent in these areas. A more detailed understanding of geography and culture will also be learned in Spanish II.
Spanish III
This course is designed for students who have a true interest in the language and culture. In Spanish III, students will be encouraged to communicate almost solely in Spanish, with very little English communication. At this level, students will continue to learn complex vocabulary and grammar. Topics of study include the subjunctive, the imperative, and the differences between the prepositions por and para (check out the video link at right!).
